EDO NUJ COUNCIL CREATES SITUATION ROOM IN BENIN CITY

The Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has opened an election monitoring centre at its secretariat in Benin City, the state capital.

The Chairman of the council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, disclosed in a statement issued on Friday that the monitoring centre was to ensure the seamless coverage of the September 21 2024 Edo State Governorship Election.

Alenkhe called on journalists and members of the general public to link up to the union’s Facebook Page and other channels that will be used during the election for situation updates.

The President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Dr Chris Isiguzo MFR, will preside over the situation room activities.

The Edo NUJ leadership also advised journalists to ensure their personal safety first as they cover the governorship election and appealed to security operatives to give journalists on the field the necessary protection.
